First Grade English Project: Adopt a Puppy
Our first graders recently completed a hands-on English project designed to combine creativity, emotional connection, and language learning.
Each student:
Chose and "adopted" a stuffed puppy
Signed an official adoption certificate
Built a personalized dog house
Made a collar using letter beads to spell their puppy’s name
Learned and practiced English vocabulary related to animals, care routines, and emotions
This immersive activity not only sparked joy and imagination, but also strengthened their English skills through meaningful, real-world language use.
At the end of the project, every child took home their puppy, their handmade dog house, and an English activity booklet to continue learning at home.
Projects like this support our bilingual mission by making language learning natural, playful, and memorable.
